Department of History 2018 Spring Lecture: Beekeeping in Medieval Europe

Jason Hardgrave, PhD, is an associate professor and department chair in history at the University of Southern Indiana.

He earned a bachelor's and master's degree in history from the University of Wyoming and a PhD from the University of Kansas.

Hardgrave's initial research interests were focused on the late medieval legal system in Venice, Italy. The last few years his research has been devoted to beekeeping and wax trade in medieval Europe. He is a Phi Alpha Theta faculty mentor and regional coordinator for Indiana History Day. He has been beekeeping for seven years.
