Efroymson Sponsored Visiting Artist Rowland Ricketts

The 糖心传媒 Art Department presents an exhibit, lecture and demonstration by Rowland Ricketts, III, sponsored by the Efroymson Family Fund. Rowland Ricketts utilizes natural dyes and historical processes to create contemporary textiles that span art and design.

Trained in indigo farming and dyeing in Japan, Rowland received his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2005 and is currently an assistant professor in textiles at Indiana University’s Henry Radford Hope School of Fine Art. His work has been exhibited at the Textile Museum (Washington, DC), Cavin-Morris Gallery (New York), and Douglas Dawson Gallery (Chicago) and has been published in Textiles Now, FiberArts, Selvedge, Surface Design Journal, and Hand/Eye Magazine. Rowland is a recipient of a 2012 United States Artists Fellowship.

Rowland will present a lecture to the public on Sunday February 23 at 3 pm and a demonstration for students at 10 am Monday, February 24 in the Melvin Peterson Gallery at the corner of Lincoln and Weinbach Avenues.

The Melvin Peterson Gallery is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 12 pm to 6 pm and Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12-3 p.m.

Rowland Ricketts' exhibit will be open from February 21 to March 7.
